Feed Mixer Tyres

Stability and load capacity for every feed mixer, available from stock.

Feed mixer

The tyre that keeps your feed mixer stable, day after day

A feed mixer works under constantly changing loads: heavily laden towards the barn, empty back to the clamp, over the road and across the yard. That alternation demands a tyre that holds its shape, stays stable in corners and rolls comfortably on hard surfaces. The right feed mixer tyre prevents that tipping sensation with a full tub and limits the wear caused by incorrect pressure or insufficient load capacity.

HBI Tyres & Wheels supplies a complete programme of tyres and complete wheel sets for feed mixers, silage wagons and trailed vehicles. From compact sizes for narrow barn passages to wide flotation sizes that keep ground pressure low, we determine together with you the size and pattern that match your machine, your route and your operating hours.

HBI has supplied tyres and wheels to the livestock and contracting sector for decades, and knows the common feed mixers and silage wagons inside out. That means we advise not only on size but on application: which tyre keeps your specific machine stable, comfortable and economical at work, day after day.

Stability under changing loads

Stability under changing loads

A full feed mixer carries a lot of weight high above the axle. Our tyres are built to carry that load without sagging, so the machine stays stable while mixing, driving and unloading.

A sturdy sidewall reduces the tipping sensation in corners and keeps the tub balanced, even on a sloping yard.

  • High load capacity at full weight
  • Sturdy sidewall against tipping
  • Stable while mixing and unloading

Comfortable on yard and road

Feeding often means several trips a day across hard surfaces. A radial pattern with low rolling resistance rides more calmly, uses less fuel and spares your tractor driveline.

Fewer vibrations also mean more comfort for the driver during the many short trips.

  • Low rolling resistance on hard surfaces
  • Calm and comfortable road behaviour
  • Less fuel per trip

Soil friendly around the clamp

Soil friendly around the clamp

Around the bunker silo and on the yard, ground pressure counts. Flotation and wide sizes spread the weight across a larger contact area, so you leave fewer ruts and protect the surface.

That keeps the working area around the clamp passable, even in a wet autumn.

  • Large contact area, low ground pressure
  • Fewer ruts around the clamp
  • Grip on wet and loose ground

Custom work and complete wheel sets

Not every feed mixer has the same clearance or axle layout. We supply the tyre on its own or as a complete tyre and wheel set built to specification, so fitting runs quickly and without surprises.

Knowledge

What to look for in a feed mixer tyre

With a feed mixer, everything revolves around the weight of a full tub, which sits high above the axle and varies sharply between trips. Choose a tyre with ample load capacity and a sturdy sidewall so the wagon stays stable while mixing, driving and unloading. The load index must match your heaviest load at your highest driving speed, with a safe margin on top.

The surface determines the pattern. If you drive mainly on hard surfaces between clamp and barn, a radial pattern with low rolling resistance is comfortable and economical. If you work a lot around the bunker silo on loose or wet ground, a wide or flotation pattern gives more grip and fewer ruts. Many feed mixers do both, so a good balance between comfort and grip is often the best choice.

Pay attention to sizing and the space in the wheel arch as well. A wider tyre lowers ground pressure but must fit without fouling. That is why we supply not only the tyre but also complete tyre and wheel sets built to the specification of your machine, so fitting and fit are right first time.

The correct tyre pressure keeps the tyre in good condition longer and the wagon more stable. Too low a pressure causes shoulder wear and higher fuel use on the road; too high a pressure wears the centre and gives less grip in the field. Our specialists will advise the pressure that suits your route and operating hours.

Do not forget maintenance. A feed mixer runs daily, so it pays to check pressure weekly and keep the tyres clean. Watch for early shoulder wear, which often points to low pressure combined with many road kilometres. Small corrections made in time prevent premature replacement and keep the wagon safe.

Frequently asked questions

Feed Mixer Tyres, answered briefly

Which tyre suits my feed mixer?+
That depends on the weight of a full tub, the axle layout, the available space and whether you drive mainly on the yard or also on the road. Give us your current size or machine type and our specialists will advise the right tyre or complete wheel set.
Why is load capacity so important on a feed mixer?+
The weight of a full tub sits high and varies sharply. A tyre with too little load capacity sags, wears unevenly and makes the machine unstable. The correct load index per speed keeps the wagon stable and the tyre in good condition longer.
Do you also supply complete tyre and wheel sets for feed mixers?+
Yes. We supply the tyre on its own or as a complete tyre and wheel set built to the specification of your machine, so fitting runs quickly and without problems.
Are the common sizes available from stock?+
The common feed mixer sizes are held in stock and delivered quickly across the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. For special sizes we agree the delivery time with you in advance.
Can I buy from HBI as a contractor or dealer?+
Certainly. HBI supplies contractors, dealers and distributors with sharp terms and a fixed point of contact. Ask about the dealer programme through the contact page.
